Day 55 - Gordans bay snorkel trail, clovelly beach

Sat 24 Feb
Gordon's bay and Clovelly beach again.
Karen got up and went to the bakery underneath our apartment to get something for her breakfast, I had the last 2 eggs and the last piece of bread.
Then we set off to Gordons bay, the bus took us to Coogee bay first then we walked over the headland to Gordons bay.
There were already plenty of people on the rocks on the sunny side of the bay but the other side was pretty empty. We picked a spot on the shady side, dropped our gear and got into the water from the beach.

We snorkeled our way along that side of the bay until we got to the buoy that marked the start of the diving trail.

I got to see a stingray while we were snorkeling along, and a few other things.
The water was colder here and Karen was having trouble with her mask steaming up so we walked back along the rocks, sun bathed to dry off while the rocks filled up with people. There are no facilities here so when we got hungry it was time to move on.
We walked round the headland from Gordons bay to the cafe overlooking Clovelly beach for lunch.

After lunch we went down onto Clovelly beach, and snorkeled there again.
We found one of the residents a big blue grouper called "Bluey".

There were a couple of kids on the beach with their Mum, they were a bit nervous about the water because of all the sea weed, but we told them about the fish and eventually they went in to explore.
We sat on the beach until we were dry and then we headed back to the Airbnb, to get changed so Karen could go to Church.

While Karen was in Church I walked along the bus route towards Sydney, I'd seen a large graveyard and I wanted to see what it was like.
Karen's church service was very short so she was done quicker than expected, and had to wait for me to meander back.

Once I got back to the church we headed off back to the Airbnb to get on with our packing, and get some tea. All we had left to eat was some salad and some cheese so that's what we ate, fortunately we had some ice cream too.
Some of our wet gear had to be dried with the hair dryer before packing :D
